The micro-season of the German section of TNRS

The micro-season of the German section of the "Radu Stanca" National Theatre Sibiu will take place between 23-26 February 2023 and will bring together diplomats, officials, important guests from the cultural world, artists and spectators. This year too, three new productions will be presented, condensed into a single weekend, illustrating how the German Section approaches a wide variety of styles and thematic concerns.
The event aims to bring together key players in the cultural field, to identify future projects and programmes for TNRS, for the German Section and for the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, resulting in strategic partnerships for next year and beyond.
The "Radu Stanca" National Theatre in Sibiu, with its two sections - German and Romanian - has established itself in the region as the most important pillar in the field of culture, education and research.
Together with the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS) and its associated structures (The Performing Arts Market, Theatre Schools Festival, Doctoral Platform in Performing Arts, Alley of Celebrities and Volunteer Programme), which are in permanent dialogue with each other, we pursue community development, both locally and regionally, as a strategic objective of all our cultural activities since 2007 (Sibiu - European Capital of Culture) until today.
Together with reliable partners from the German community, the National Theatre "Radu Stanca" Sibiu and its related structures have always been able to promote the German cultural heritage and offer high quality cultural products.
During the micro-season, guests will be able to watch three performances in German and one in Romanian, all performed in the Main Hall of the National Theatre "Radu Stanca" Sibiu (Bulevardul Corneliu Coposu, nr. 2).

MICRO-SEASON Program

Thursday, February 23rd:
7 pm – Antigona. Requiem, by Thomas Köck, directed by Florin Vidamski. Performed in German, with subtitles in Romanian and English

Friday, February 24th:
4pm - the Hall of Mirrors of the Democratic Forum of Germans Sibiu: Working meeting and discussions between guests, diplomats and businessmen with the participation of Mr Constantin Chiriac (General Director of the National Theatre "Radu Stanca" Sibiu and President of the International Theatre Festival Sibiu).
Topic of the working meeting: To discuss possible projects and synergies in collaboration with the "Radu Stanca" National Theatre and the involvement of partners in the realization of the programme of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS), editions 2023-2025. Presentation of this year's Festival programmes and future projects of the German Section of the "Radu Stanca" National Theatre. Development of a network, a platform of Eastern and Western European theatres to strengthen the international, national and regional pillars of culture, education and research.

7 pm –The Maids by Jean Genet, directed by Hunor Horváth. Performed in German, with subtitles in Romanian and English.

Saturday, February 25th:

7 pm – Macbeth by William Shakespeare, directed by Botond Nagy. Performed in German, with subtitles in Romanian and English.



Sunday, February 26th:

7 pm – The Cherry Orchard by Anton Pavlovici Cehov, directed by Dumitru Acriș. Performed in German, with subtitles in Romanian and English.
