Shortly after the surprising death of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, rumors surfaced that he had been poisoned. Truth or Legend? Antonio Salieri, the former court composer to Joseph II, is accused after a few years of being guilty of Mozart’s death. Could he be the killer? Initially, the most successful composer of the Austrian court, Salieri loses his privileged status when the child prodigy Mozart appears on the music scene of the era.

Salieri rebels against God. He cannot and will not understand how this boyish misfit, Mozart, could be the chosen genius, and he, just a mediocre composer with a little more talent. Consumed with envy, Salieri swears revenge. He wants to destroy this Mozart, the favorite of an unjust God, and will do so by any means.

The play of Peter Shaffer follows Mozart’s tracks, he who is idolized worldwide today, but had a rapid ascent and tragic fall. In 1984, director Milos Forman transposes the story into film and is awarded an Oscar.

Gabriel Pinte, known by the German Section audience for the successful staging of the fairytale Eternal Youth and Life Without Death, is the director of this game of intrigue. The simple, versatile scenography is signed by Roxana Ionescu.
