Autobahn – an almost choreographic painting of our own existence

The stage adaptation of the project “Autobahn” reveals subtleties beyond the cinematographic image. Because theatre is alive. And NeiL LaBute’s text is about life - our life, the small and the big failures that define our existence, along the roads each and every one of us travels towards their own aims. What could we discover in our speedy drive on the highway with no speed limit, on which we all cross our loneliness: the futility of hiding, the impossibility of saving ourselves or the absurdity of life? On stage, the trajectories of the characters captive in the cars of their own destinies derail at a fast pace, in a final confrontation with their own fears and hopes. The stage becomes a natural extension of the camera, opening secondary interpretations or closing the characters’ destinies under the sign of relentless tragedy. Gestures become hastened, domestic rituals go astray, artificial smiles melt away. Emotions intensify. There’s no more room for small talks. People live!
