The whole community is preparing for a big wedding. But despite the general excitement, some people are not looking forward to it. While the groom’s mother fears that the marriage will mark a definitive break between her and her son, the bride-to-be tries in vain to forget Leonardo, who has also married.
Through “Blood Wedding”, Lorca illustrates the chronicle of a tragedy that opposes traditional mentality with the twists and turns of the human soul engulfed by passions. Honor Horváth’s adaptation for the stage takes this conflict to a new level, questioning the legitimacy of norms which, in the context of today’s Romanian society, risk unleashing a veritable human catastrophe.
