When Hortense and Gertrude meet again on stage to do a performance together, the ghosts of the past and the demons of a totalitarian present put weight on the theatre walls. But what is the role of theatre in a world overwhelmed by invisible theatres and what does it have to offer to a soul withered by delusive loves? Bitterly funny and self-ironic, the two characters embark on an inner journey through the passions of the feminine soul, at the end of which salvation seems to flicker.

‘A funny, yet sad game, lines as sharp as a dance of fencing foils, a battle between reason and instinct - this is the gist of Victor Haïm's play, “Stage Games”. An actress and a playwright reunite after many years of not seeing each other, to work together once again. The protagonists begin the rehearsal strongly, enthusiastically. Yet... After “Theatre Gifts”, the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre challenges the audience to a theatrical duel.’ - Mariana Mihu-Plier
