God of Carnage

Text: Yasmina Reza
Directed by: Bogdan Sărătean
Cast: Emőke Boldizsár, Daniel Bucher, Johanna Adam, Daniel Plier

Two adult couples come together to have a civilized discussion about their children’s violent play. A formal, slightly tense atmosphere. The parents put up forced smiles, trying to check yet another rule of decency. Who is the culprit?
However, as masks start to come off, things deteriorate.

‘The central character of our show is a hamster, that creature that’s neither a wild animal, nor a pet. Depressed and unhappy in its cage, yet incapable to survive outside it. Incapable to manage its freedom.

This character is the representation of contemporary people. With all theirs masks and customs. Western people. Who protest against climate change, then take a taxi home, making a pit stop at a fast-food restaurant. Contemporary Western people, who donate 2 Euros for African children from their iPhone, whose battery is made of the Cobalt mined by the same children.

Or simply put, an excellent text and four great actors. This is what our performance is about.’ Bogdan Sărătean, director
