Invitation to apply for Romanian contemporary circus and outdoor arts artists within the European Circostrada Meeting – FITS 2026

Romanian contemporary circus and outdoor arts artists are invited to apply to the Open Call – Contemporary Circus & Outdoor Arts – Sibiu 2026, launched in the context of the Annual General Meeting of the European network Circostrada (CS AGM), which will take place in Sibiu from 24–26 June 2026, within the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS).

The Circostrada Annual General Meeting – the most important European network dedicated to contemporary circus and outdoor arts – is an event co-organized by the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre Sibiu and ARTCENA (National Centre for Circus, Street and Theatre Arts) from France, within FITS 2026.

Through this open call, the organizers aim to support young artists from Romania and facilitate the visibility of their projects in a European professional context, in direct dialogue with members of the Circostrada network, programmers, festival directors, producers, and representatives of international cultural networks.

Three projects selected at national level
Following the open call, three performances or artistic projects will be selected. The selection will be based on artistic coherence, relevance to the European context, and the development potential of the projects.

For each of the three selected projects, the organizers offer a performance fee, depending on the number of artists, conceived as a support grant for the artists, two nights of accommodation in Sibiu, transportation within Romania, access to the Circostrada professional meeting organized on Thursday, 25 June, between 16:30–18:30, the opportunity for informal meetings with CS AGM participants, and free access to the outdoor performances presented within FITS 2026 during the same period.

Interested artists are invited to complete the application form by Sunday, 22 March 2026.

Circostrada comes to Sibiu
Created in 2003, Circostrada brings together organizations, festivals and professionals active in the field of contemporary circus and outdoor arts across Europe. Its mission is to develop and strengthen these sectors at national and international level, including through dialogue with decision-makers and by supporting their recognition in cultural policies.

The meeting in Sibiu will bring together professionals in the field and aims to connect them directly with the current state of this sector in Romania. Organized within FITS and SIPAM (Sibiu International Performing Arts Market), the event creates a context for professional dialogue, exchange of experience and new international collaborations.
