TNRS Production Mother at the China Shanghai International Arts Festival

The Radu Stanca National Theatre Sibiu will take part in the China Shanghai International Arts Festival (CSIAF), one of the most important international cultural events in Asia, held between October 13 and 17, 2025. Within the festival, the production Mother by Marta Barceló, directed by Mariana Cămărășan, will be presented to Chinese audiences on October 15, at 4:00 PM and 7:30 PM, at the Duanjun Theatre in Shanghai.

Written by Marta Barceló, the play tells the story of two women who are given the chance to share their loneliness and to discover a genuine reason to love life.

The China Shanghai International Arts Festival (CSIAF), organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal Government, is the only national-level international arts festival in China. Since its establishment in 1999, CSIAF has served as an essential bridge for cultural exchange, bringing outstanding cultural and artistic expressions from around the world to China and promoting a broad global perspective. The 24th edition of the China Shanghai International Arts Festival will take place between October and November 2025.

There is a strategic partnership between the Radu Stanca National Theatre Sibiu, the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, and the China Shanghai International Arts Festival (CSIAF / ChinaSPAF), a collaboration that generates artistic exchanges and joint projects. For example, last year TNRS presented the production Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, directed by Andriy Zholdak, at the China Shanghai International Arts Festival.
