The Radu Stanca National Theatre Sibiu Joins the International Campaign Dedicated to World Mental Health Day

The Radu Stanca National Theatre Sibiu is joining the international campaign dedicated to World Mental Health Day. To mark the occasion, our building on Corneliu Coposu Boulevard will be illuminated in green on the evening of October 10, starting at 7:00 PM. At the same time, as a sign of solidarity, several buildings in Sibiu and across the country will also be lit in green.

“I am sending you a green message—the colour of hope, balance, and mental health. I recall the verses of the poet who so beautifully wrote: Fresh green, fresh green,/ White bud, pink and pure,/
A dream of blue and azure,/ I still see you, I still hear you.

Today we come together with the desire to preserve, collectively, the mental health of our community. It is natural to smile, but also to ask ourselves where the boundary between normality and abnormality truly lies.

Recently, in Takayama—a city twinned with Sibiu—I had the joy of meeting nearly three thousand young people, aged between 13 and 16, over several days filled with dialogue and inspiration. I spoke to them about the strategic partnership between the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, the Radu Stanca National Theatre, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre—the most important cultural institution in Japan—built around a text by Marin Sorescu.

There, as now, I evoked the power of art to build bridges between people and cultures, as well as our shared responsibility to protect the inner balance of everyone.

I shared with the young people a fragment from the poem Ctitorie by Marin Sorescu, the Romanian author staged in Japan by the great artist Kuranosuke Sasaki:
