The premiere of “Last Generation”, the manifesto as a creative act of new possible realities

The show “The Last Generation”, signed by debut director Tudor Licu, is the premiere that concludes the series of new productions presented by the Radu Stanca National Theatre Sibiu in 2024. The preview and premiere are scheduled on December 19 and 20, at 7:00 pm, at the Studio Hall.
Eight young actors (Iustinian Turcu, Ștefan Tunsoiu, Antonia Dobocan, Radu Costea, Crina Dumitrașcu, Ada Bicfalvi, David Cristian, Oana Noja) led by a debutant director (Tudor Licu) present an anthology-performance, composed of the writings of six authors (Cosmin Stănilă, Alex Mircioi, Mădălina Stoica, Daria Ancuța, Tudor Licu, Carla Oncescu), part of the youngest generation of Romanian playwrights.
Each script imagines a possible end of humanity, exploring the impact of the direction the world is heading in on the direction of our lives.
“This is a unique opportunity that the Sibiu International Theatre Festival and the Radu Stanca National Theatre in Sibiu have been giving young Romanian and international artists for several years, in a dialogue with themselves, with the audience, with creation. Welcome to the beautiful world of Miracle!” – Constantin Chiriac, General Manager of TNRS and President of FITS.
“The Last Generation” is the revolt of young people against a world in decline, the revolt as a manifesto, as a creative act of new possible realities.
“What you will see below are the nightmares of our generation, metaphors that tend to become realities, in the absence of concrete collective actions”, says director Tudor Licu.
The production is part of the Manifest for Dialogue program, through which the National Theatre in Sibiu has given talented young directors the chance to make their stage debut.
The program aims, on the one hand, to encourage critical thinking by tackling important issues that are too little discussed in the Romanian theatrical landscape and, on the other hand, to contribute to the development of a new audience, an active, involved audience that, together with the artists, triggers and supports a lively debate.
The continuation of the program pursues a third direction: supporting the debut in theatrical art. Specifically, the project involves the creation of a theatrical performance, based on a dramatic text written especially for the project, by a young team consisting of a director, playwright, scenographer, actors of the Radu Stanca National Theatre in Sibiu and students of the Drama and Theatre Studies Department of the Faculty of Letters and Arts of ULBS and the realization of a national tour.
The Manifest for Dialogue project and tour are supported by BRD Groupe Société Générale. The Manifest for Dialogue project will continue in the coming years.
