Celebrating World Theater Day together

On the occasion of World Theater Day, which is celebrated every year on March 27, the "Radu Stanca" National Theater of Sibiu has prepared a series of surprises dedicated to theater lovers, offering a free performance on the Digital Stage and a performance at the TNRS headquarters to support the Theatrical Solidarity Fund.
"Theatre is the art that captures the miracle of encounters. It is a collective art through which we can gain a better understanding of beauty and of the need for giving. World Theater Day must be a celebration of all those who find in the performing arts not only a refuge, but also a manner of understanding and appreciating the chance to be part of this world. Out of the desire to share joy with all the spectators who always supported us, the "Radu Stanca" National Theater has prepared a special gift that we invite you to receive with an open heart on March 27, a day that reminds us of the fact that the world is a stage, and we are all actors", declared Constantin Chiriac, general director of the "Radu Stanca" National Theater of Sibiu and president of the Sibiu International Theater Festival.
During the entire day of March 27, the performance "Felii", by Lia Bugnar, starring Ofelia Popii, will be available for free on the Digital Stage, the online platform of the TNRS. In "Felii", a single actress, with seven identities and as many fascinating characters, invites the viewer on an alert journey through the abysses of the female soul that suffers, loves and forgives with equal intensity. The Digital Stage video-on-demand platform, awarded with the UNITER special award, can be accessed on the website www.scena-digitala.ro.
On March 27, at 7:00 p.m., at the Great Hall of the TNRS, the show "Mine Blindness" by Csaba Székely, directed by Bogdan Sărătean, will be performed as part of the "Artists for Artists" National Campaign. Proceeds will be directed to the Theater Solidarity Fund. Tickets are available online at www.tnrs.ro and at the TNRS Theater Agency in Sibiu, Nicolae Bălcescu street no. 17.
Initiated in 2002, by UNITER, the "Artists for Artists" National Campaign is a stimulator of guild solidarity, a financial resource for artists facing livelihood problems and a signal to the public and authorities regarding their situation and personal dignity.
Also, on the occasion of World Theater Day, the President of Romania, His Excellency Mr. Klaus Werner Iohannis, signed the decree awarding director Constantin Chiriac the National Order "For Merit" in the rank of Officer "as a sign of appreciation and gratitude for his professionalism and the dedication placed in the service of art and the public, for the important contribution brought to the domestic and international affirmation of the values of Romanian theater”.
