Fabrica de Cultură (The Culture Factory) is one of the most ambitious architectural rehabilitation projects in Romania – a decommissioned factory converted into a place meant to host a variety of cultural events. The factory is divided into three big halls, each with its own distinctive purpose, and is currently hosting some of the most notable theatre productions in Sibiu, including “Faust”, directed by Silviu Purcărete.

The “Eugenio Barba” Hall takes its name after the famous and internationally acclaimed director, who inaugurated the hall by staging one of his own performances. The most recent addition to Fabrica de Cultură, the “Eugenio Barba” Hall, has a special design that allows it to be modified according to the specifics of Italian, Elizabethan, or kabuki theatre. This hall has most recently been associated with Silviu Purcărete’s production, “The Scarlet Princess”, which proposes a modern twist to the principles of kabuki theatre.
