Power of Diversity

POWER OF DIVERSITY is a project financed through the Creative Europe programme which unfolded between 2015-2018.
The project leader – Aktionstheater PAN.OPTIKUM (Freiburg, Germany), had as its partners: The „Radu Stanca” National Theatre of Sibiu, Promoción de la Ciudad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain), Pikene pa Broen (Kirkenes, Norway), Bytomskie Centrum Kultury (Bytom, Poland), Cyprian Kamil Norwid Theater (Jelenia Góra, Poland), The Creative Foundation (Folkestone, Great Britain), The Corn Exchange Trust (Newbury, Great Britain), Gerhart Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau (Görlitz, Germany), Passage Festival (Helsingør, Denmark).

The main result was the creation of a new company, made up of three youngsters who acquired, along the three years, artistic, technical, communication and team-work abilities, which, for most of them, decisively shaped their professional career.
The final artistic product, the grand dimension performance, was created and later on presented, as part of a tour, featuring various unique locations from various European cities, hosting important festivals. Thus, the tradition of street theatre was shared with several target audiences, who were profoundly impressed by this very attractive form of performance arts and who most certainly returned in the years to come and witnessed other dramatic productions of this type. It was estimated that the final production was watched by over 100.000 people, throughout the duration of the entire tour.

Another one of the project’s remarkable achievements was the book launch” Power of Diversity – The Crossing Lines Project”, in German and English, published by the prestigious publishing house Theater der Zeit, on the 27th of September 2018.
The final result of the project, which amply proves its long term sustainability, was represented by the project’s online launch „European Creative Lab”, during the Covid-19 pandemic, by reactivating the network of youngsters which had been formed as early as 2018, consisting in regular meetings under the form of video conferences on the Zoom platform, with the scope of working, individually and in teams, on various digital activities, in order to maintain a positive attitude and preserve connections created inside the group.
