“We can understand the futility of war only by feeling the losses. Ego, lust for power, greed, whatever the reason for starting a war, any kind of violence, all becomes small and unimportant the moment life is lost. At the end of war there are no winners, there is only suffering, because the world itself has been shattered by violence. “Those who Remained" are the last women, the last to perish late enough that death seems a preferable option to life. They may be the last Trojan women, the last women in a bombed region of Syria, the last women in Ukraine or Israel, the last women on Earth.

The theme of war is very difficult, especially for students so young, but the violent world we live in begs to be understood and only by understanding what is happening can we make a difference. It’s an emotionally difficult performance for the students, but they coped brilliantly with the difficult situations in the text. Bravo!” – Ofelia Popii.
