'A long and sharp sound is etched in our minds. It’s the soundtrack of all the moments in which we could have been happy. In which our lives could have changed. It’s the sound of repeated failure written in capital letters on each and everyone’s forehead. A faint ringing that goes from the ear to the brain, and from the brain to the soul. Chekhov’s antiheroes make up the harshest study on happiness. Happiness. The happiness. The one that forgets to show up for some people. The one we only read of, the one we imagine meeting' – Andrei and Andreea Grosu.

In “Three Sisters” there is waiting. People wait for love, they wait for life, they wait for the beginning until the end comes. ‘Nature only brought us into the world that we should love’, says one of Chekhov’s miserable characters, summing up any existence that seems unsignificant. Love withstands anything. It’s the one that gives meaning to our struggles. These people who search for love restlessly and who are scared by the thought that they could end up unnoticed and unloved, they are the focal point of this performance. They all want one thing: to escape the life they’re trapped in, to run, to scream, to bring down invisible barriers, to breathe in the air they felt when they dared to dream. To be free. Through love.
